About

The Berkeley Innovation Forum Asia, an initiative of the University of California, Berkeley’s Garwood Center for Corporate Innovation at the Haas School of Business, extends the center’s flagship U.S. program, the Berkeley Innovation Forum (BIF), to a global stage.
The forum convenes business leaders across Asia and the West to engage in dialogue and collaboration at the intersection of innovation, leadership, and social impact.

BIF Asia advances the concept of the Economy of Goodness, an approach to business that moves beyond profit maximization to emphasize responsible innovation, environmental stewardship, and social responsibility as drivers of long-term value.

Tzu Chi Foundation, BIF Asia’s sponsoring partner and host, is a global leader in humanitarian relief and environmental sustainability.Through this collaboration with the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business, the foundation shares its expertise in building resilient, mission-driven organizations. By integrating humanistic values with corporate strategy, Tzu Chi helps leaders explore how a culture of compassion and social responsibility can serve as a foundation for sustainable innovation and long-term societal impact.

What is BIF?

The Berkeley Innovation Forum is a membership organization founded by Dr. Henry Chesbrough, faculty director of the Garwood Center for Corporate Innovation. Professor Chesbrough is a world-renowned authority on the topic of open innovation, a term that he is credited with originating. BIF is an exclusive membership group consisting of carefully selected corporate leaders from non-competing firms who are deeply involved in managing innovation within their companies.

The forum provides its members an ongoing window on innovation challenges confronting companies around the world, and gathers members together to share their solutions and experiences in dealing with these challenges.

The forum also incorporates recent innovation research from UC Berkeley and other universities. We keep the size of the membership limited to promote a better exchange of viewpoints. Learn more about the Berkeley Innovation Forum here.
